Today on Jacquie Straight Up, we’re taking on the age-old debate: does “like” attract “like,” or do opposites attract?
This is a big issue for me, because my husband and I could not be more different.
To start with, he is 17 years younger than me, comes from totally different cultural and socioeconomic background, and our political views are completely incompatible. The list goes on and on, but you get the point.
When the shit hits the fan in our relationship, it’s very easy to say, “We made a mistake. How could this POSSIBLY work?
Well, I was watching Jack Canfield on YouTube last week, and he was talking about the Law of Attraction — he believes that it’s misguided to think that “like” attracts “like” when it comes to relationships.
In fact, he argues that it really is opposites that attract. And for good reason! He explained his point using a brilliant analogy of two balloons and two strings. Intriguing, right? I share more in today’s Jacquie Straight Up…click here to watch.
The thing to remember, is the the Universe is in perfect balance, and connects us to what exactly we need at any given time in our lives.
My choice of husband was based on pure passion and love, and not on logic, calculation, or commonality. Quite simply, the Universe brought him to my life when I needed it most.
And, speaking from past relationships, I can say this with absolute conviction: give me passion and volatility over the sensible and calculated approach any day of the week. After all, I’m a Normalphobe who likes challenging the status quo
Here’s what I know for sure: longevity does not define a successful relationship, and the people we draw into our lives at any given point are no coincidence. It is all meant to be.
So I encourage you to embrace your past relationships as having been perfect for the time they lasted in your life. Love your current one for being perfect for right now. And have confidence in the fact that whatever the future holds, you will always be OK.
Because standing alone, you are strong and powerful and absolutely complete — this is what being your OWN soul mate is all about! Its about risk taking, rule breaking, and loving others deeply and with an open heart, because you no longer fear failure or rejection.
Next month, I’m finally launching my Be Your Own Soul Mate program. It’s an eight week, life-changing online training program that you won’t want to miss. If you’re interested in learning how you can truly be your OWN soul mate, and create a happy, healthy, and successful life of love, wealth, adventure, and freedom, be sure to stay tuned
!And remember this: the people who enter your life, and with whom you have chemistry, are never a mistake.
While sometimes we can stay too long in a relationship due to fear or insecurity, they were all meant to be.
I would love to hear what you think about this subject: does like attract like? Or are we meant to attract those who challenge us and force us to grow?
And what about mistakes? Are there some relationships that are mistakes? I personally don’t believe so, but let me know what you think in the comments section.
